Library uploads
Choosing Upload video sends the file and title to the library. Videos start private; owners can make them public or invite viewers. The library stores account emails, hashed sign-in/session tokens, access settings and invitations. Revocation prevents future requests but cannot recall bytes already downloaded.
Local-file playback
Files opened in the separate local player stay on your device. Videos and subtitle files opened at /local/ or a local-player guide are read through the browser File API. Those actions do not upload the file. The library upload form is a separate, explicit action.
What is saved on your device
Your playback position, cut marks, picture settings and a first-time hint flag are saved in your browser's localStorage, keyed by the file name. This data never leaves your device. Clearing your site data removes it.
The upload library uses an HttpOnly session cookie for email-link sign-in. Uploaded video content, titles, account emails, access settings and invitations are stored by the library. The separate local-file player does not upload files or set authentication cookies. External feedback is disabled in this local fork.
Anonymous usage statistics
This local fork has no external analytics or feedback script. The inherited local-file player retains its same-origin anonymous event collector.
We count anonymous feature usage (for example: a file of type MKV was opened, an export succeeded). We never send file names, file contents, subtitle text, cut times, or anything that identifies you. No cookies. Your IP address is not stored with these counts. These are the only events, and the only values each can carry:
| Event | What it records |
|---|---|
| file_open | file type: mp4, mkv, webm, mov, avi or other |
| play_error | kind of problem: video_codec, audio_codec, decode, unsupported or engine |
| playback_path | how the video plays: native or engine |
| subtitle_add | subtitle format: srt or vtt |
| cut_add | that a cut was marked (no times) |
| trim_export | result (ok, fail, cancel), mode (kept, clip), save (picker, download), and a size range (<100MB, <1GB, <2GB, ≥2GB) |
| playback_start | that a video started playing: how it plays (native or engine), the file type (mkv, mp4, webm, mov or other), and how long it took to start as a range (<1s, <3s, <10s, ≥10s) |
Each event also records which of our pages it happened on: /, /play-mkv-online/, /trim-video-online/, /video-player-no-install/, or "other" for anything else. Only that page path is sent. We never send the full web address, query strings, or the page you came from.
The inherited feedback integration is disabled. No feedback window is loaded.
